In a recent exchange with women desperately seeking to create a future of their own choosing, the conversation about intention, attention and boundaries re-inserted itself into the equation for being successful in doing so. I share some of the exchange, below.
“Seeking to envision and manifest a future of your own choosing requires… no, not strong enough… DEMANDS that you stay awake, present, mindful and intentional. Without the strength of that commitment, it is far too easy to go back to sleep; to simply fall into the deep trench of habit and history… relying on mindlessness and repetition to ‘get you through’. In my now decades of engaging with women, I have yet to meet one woman who wants a life of just getting by and getting through the crap that seeks to distract us from our potential.
Boundaries. Start paying attention to where they do – and do not – exist.
Start paying attention to how easily and frequently you betray yourself… put your Self aside to repeat history.
Notice when you are saying ‘yes’ to what you do not want… and when you are not declaring what you DO want. Your silence is deadly when it is in service to your own indifference to the quality of your life.
Notice how much time you spend outside of your body… with your attention drifting around, above and outside of your body; and how doing so ensures that when you commit, you’re like a limp noodle – doing so to shut someone up or to be seen by others to be doing something desirable. Such are the strategies of ‘the good girl’, ensuring the absence of offence to all but yourself.
A life without boundaries will ensure that you are equally steeped in a life of manipulation. ’Trying’. Appeasing. Manipulating others to get what you want rather than simply declaring what you want and moving with intention to ensure its creation. A life of manipulation demands a life of secrets, lies, deceptions and betrayals – of self and other.
Before we can be honest with another, we must first be honest with ourselves. How good are you at owning the truth of your experience? ”
In a recent Navigating Chaos experience, we took the deep dive into an exploration of boundaries. Click here, in case you’re ready for a refresher. Buckle up! 🙂
