Are we ever really too busy to consider the quality of our own lives? As much as we can find ourselves caught up in the daily routines that form part of living our lives, our willingness and ability to stop… take a breath… and ask ourselves: “Am I living the life I desire? Or am I living the life I think I’m stuck with?” – is no more difficult than that. And in that single breath, a life can change.
What does it take to become both willing and able to bring ourselves fully into the light of day? To be both seen and heard for the truth of who we know ourselves to be? We need, first, to reclaim what moves inside us before we can reclaim anything outside of us.
Essential to this potent journey is the requirement of permission : not permission from anyone outside of us but permission from somewhere deep inside of us, for us to be authentically ourselves. In that compelling moment of Self-reclamation, we take a breath; we raise our head and pull ourselves up to our full measure; and we move forward into the choices that will redefine the quality of our lives. The quality of your life is a reflection of the choices that you make, from one day to the next… from one moment to the next…and ultimately from one breath to the next.
Our behaviours are the evidential trail of our choices. And behaviours have consequences! As much as we may think that doing nothing will keep us hidden and tucked safely into our static lives, doing nothing is in itself a choice – resulting in a behaviour that will bring consequences of its own.

As you continue to move forward in your own life, here are a few simple things for you to consider as you reconsider, for yourself, the possibilities of living visibly and audibly as a full expression of your authentic Self!
- Make time in your busy day to pause and ask yourself: “Am I living the life I desire or the one I think I’m stuck with?” Let yourself know the full impact of that question, in your body… where you live. Let your attention drop slowly and easily to the base of your spine and invite the information that your body carries to begin to move effortlessly through the tissue of your body. That wave of recognition…. that flow of energy and information… can be the wave that will clear a path for you to move to a new place to stand.
- Allow yourself to consider the connection between intention, choice and behaviour. As you revisit all three of these in your life, be mindful – without judgement or self-deprecation – of how they are interconnected with each an essential thread in the tapestry of your life; knowing that as they come together with presence of mind, they will align to form the markers along the trajectory of your choosing. If you are to create for yourself a meaningfully sustainable life, you must also become willing to stop… notice… and engage the course corrections that let you know you are alive and in charge of your own destiny!
- And finally, be gentle with yourself! Know that your intentions bring with them the dawn of a new day; that your choices chart the course on the journey of discovery that is your life; and that your behaviours are the fuel that will propel you along the way! Anytime along this Great Adventure called life, you can stop… take a breath.. and redirect in ways that will bring joy and meaning into your life! Life is about living – not talking about living! – and your life can begin anew, today!
