Nobody owns the truth. Why are we so quick to give our truth away when someone disagrees with us or doesn’t give us the encouragement that we expected? If you believe in your dreams, isn’t it worth taking the risk of bringing them to life? Your life is worth the risk. Lving your truth is your heritage. It is your birthright, a right that is not available to all people across the world

When Lynn Andrews agreed to write the Foreword for the second edition of my first book, Fully Alive, I was both appreciative and moved. This willingness was a hallmark of Lynn’s generosity in a world where such things were often but a ghost of a deep longing for it to be so. Her extensive offering was testament to her deep commitment to the evolution of women and her life – long lived – in its full expression of service to others.
Lynn’s first book – Medicine Woman, 1981 – shared the start of an extensive journey of her own evolution written as spiritual autobiography. Her journey provoked my own.. and I read everything she published.
In 1991, Lynn created The Power Deck.. which became a staple in all of my work with women, over more than 25 years. That first deck had been touched by hundreds of hands of so many women that, over time – having absorbed both energy and the evidence of human touch – they had become like cloth rather than paper. To this day, her Power Deck sits on my desk – a constant invitation to pause… consider.. reflect.. and engage intentionally. The images offer compelling metaphors; and her always-provocative words are the call to a new layer of insight.
I had the opportunity to meet Lynn at one of her regular retreats on the Big Island of Hawaii. This was a world of her own design, welcoming of all who chose to step into it. That image still remains, even these two-decades later: a spectacular, ocean-front bungalow at the Mauna Lani, filled with a group of women seeking their own journey of spiritual evolution, wrapped in the presence and grace of a woman who dared. Although Lynn’s beauty appeared delicate, the grace of her presence and power was anything but! Once met – never forgotten.
Lynn’s life in this reality completed itself on August 17, 2022 – at the age of 82. Who can say how many lives were transformed because of her unwavering and fearless commitment to the truth of her own evolution? How many women became both willing and able to save themselves because for Lynn, truth was more important than pretence. Lives fully lived, in the service of perpetual discovery of Self.
I remain grateful to Lynn – wherever she may be – as I always felt in her good company along the path of my own evolution. She dared – at a time when such things were, at best, frowned upon and at worst, mocked and ridiculed – that others might ponder the potential for themselves. Her prolific body of work remains available and continues to transform lives; as her presence lingers without the need of corporeal evidence that it should. Such is the power of a Life lived in authenticity.
