Memory Lane: The Edge of Potential

November 20, 2017 by Louise LeBrun 2 Comments

Strong (think: power), intense (think: passion) and definite (think: purpose) – when directed at creating what we want in our lives rather than fending off or pressing away what we do not want in our lives – take on a flow that supports the creation of Life rather than its destruction; awakens others to that potential in themselves; and leaves behind a trail of possibility rather than one of devastation.  Before we can become adept at making these distinctions, we must first come to know that energetic force of Fire,  intimately; and make friends with all that it can offer us in the creation of our lives.

Fire is an essential requirement in the process of manifestation.  As it moves inside us, its intensity of flow (which becomes the fuel/source of power in our lives) and its immensity of expression (which is a reflection of the purpose we carry )  can collapse space and time and make way for us to carve out a meaningful life (which becomes the visible, audible and tangible evidence of our passion for living).  Without that force of Fire energy in the body, our capacity to take action on our own behalf in a deeply meaningful and sustainable way is severely compromised.  Our dreams continue but our ability to source their expression is left wanting.

That force of Fire energy within us can be an expression of creation through manifesting what we do want and it can be a force of destruction by deconstructing what we don’t.

The following closing thoughts can be found at the end of:
Episode 52 of ‘Reclaiming Your Self: Women Unedited and Engaged!’ on the topic of ‘Power, Passion and Purpose: The Edge of Potential’.

========================================

You can trust that what moves within you can become part of your expressions outside of you as you seek to discover, from one moment to the next, the power, passion and purpose in your own life.   To help you along the way, here are a few simple thoughts for you to consider as you move into the coming week.

  • Find a quiet moment and ask yourself:  What do I want?  We’ve become adept at making long lists of what we don’t want with evidence of that at every turn, captured through our inner cues of frustration, resentment, sadness or fear.  Rarely do we redirect our attention to mindfully seek to focus on what we do want… often discovering we are less practiced and subsequently less skilled at naming, claiming and choosing those people, places, events and experiences in life that make life worth living!  As you go through your day, catch yourself in those moments when you spontaneously smile… or laugh out loud!.. or find yourself pausing to luxuriate in the moment.  These are the simple markers along the way, seeking to guide us to a more meaningful life… and we often miss them.  So caught up in and detached from our busy lives, we fail to see the indicators that would take us to what we’re looking for!
  • Pay attention to the choices you’re already making!  We are trained to become creatures of habit, relying on yesterday to make it possible for us to live today and carve out tomorrow.  Without even noticing, the passage of time and the mindlessness of repetition robs us of our ability to detect when choosing not to choose leaves us in silent compliance  with what we don’t want… and not even noticing having done  so.  Just for today, make the time to notice all those times when you’re mindfully choosing; and the times when you just slip quietly into doing what is expected, what is required or what is demanded of you, losing your moment to redirect your life.  Not good/bad, right/wrong and more an opportunity to awaken to the recognition that we are participants in our own lives.
  • And finally, ask yourself this question:  “Am I living the life I want or the one I think I’m stuck with?  “  If you’re living the life you want – good for you!  It’s not always easy to name what you want, claim it, choose it and engage it!   Nor is it easy to discover that you’re living someone else’s life… or one that was carved out for you long ago, and you’ve lost track of time.   This invitation for you to notice is just that: an invitation for you to stop… take a breath… and recognize that your life is yours to live.  And if that is ever to be more than a catchy little phrase, it’s going to require that you find – within yourself – that which fuels the Fires of your own interests and desires.   We all have to start somewhere – and today is as good a day, as any!

    I have been loving reading your posts, catching up slowly, almost on a daily basis. Because of the Truth that the words carry, I find them inspirational.

    It has not been long since I understood what “claiming” my fire meant –yaii decloacking — and since then, I experience my life differently. I experience my fire differently. I know that it is not here to hurt me, instead, it is here to teach me, to show me when I am deviating from my Self. What a wonderful gift! It wasn’t until I claimed it, as my own, that it stopped burning so hard…instead, it has become a source of expression of creation, it has allowed me to manifest more of who I am into the world and live from that point. It has literally been transformative.

      Very early in my many years of working with women, it became obvious to me: women are terrified by the depth of their own rage. It’s hard to make friends with… be at peace with… that which terrifies us. Over time, they would come to know the unshakeable presence of that same Force, in the meaningful shaping of their lives.

      You learn fast! In my world, that’s a good thing – given the pace of change in today’s world. Once you know where you want to go, why would you delay the journey?

      Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with me. I am always most grateful when all that I cherish proves meaningful for another.

      Aloha!
