I recently had an email exchange with a delightful young woman I have come to cherish. As I read her words, it occurred to me that the past continued to be the context within which the ability to choose had become ‘frozen’ in the face of imagined consequences. So, with that awareness in mind, I offered her a different perspective from which to consider her current reality.
I share the line of enquiry with all of you in the hope that doing so may help you help yourself, differently. Sometimes, we are so busy looking in the rearview mirror we forget that a Life of personal choice awaits.
Here’s what I shared with her. Enjoy!
===================
When you have a quiet moment – physical journal and pen at the ready – I want you to tell me what you see when you look out into your future:
6 months:
18 months :
3 years:
5 years:
10 years:
Next question: same journal and pen at the ready, I want you to imagine yourself at 60. As you turn around and look back at your life, what do you see?
Final question: journal and pen…. if you were to simply choose YOUR life, as it would bring you joy, what do think you would lose?
