Wow… two posts in one day. That’s got to be some kind of record for me…. in my retirement!
I came across this short video clip (3:18) that addresses plant protein sources vs meat. Take a moment to ponder how deep the protein myth permeates our cultural conditioning.
Coincidentally, Deb Ozarko’s new blog post included a number of references to other materials, including an interview with Vegan Chef Deb Gleason on the No Bullshit Vegan podcast; on the topic of the cultural coma of food. In addition to being immensely talented in the creation of a life-sustaining way of eating, Deb’s gifts include an ease with educating us into expanded awareness through our food choices. Her approach to helping us recognize the existence of a cultural coma of food and the degree to which we do/do not participate in sustaining that coma, seeps into our consciousness. Once this thought-seed takes root, it becomes impossible for us to NOT see what has for so long been embedded in our societal ‘training’.
Indeed, once the seed takes root, life happens! For me, personally, the evolution to a 98% vegan lifestyle has been life-altering. It has allowed for a deeper connection to mySelf, conscious creatures around me, AND mother earth. It has been an incredibly liberating process, one I knew from a young age on that was the lifestyle for me, but ignored my inner voice because adults always put on the show of knowing better.
Growing up in Albania I have seen my share of animal slaughters. Despite what the adults told me, I KNEW that I had no interest in eating the animals I just witnessed being slaughtered. Funny thing happens, though, when you are removed from the process. Somehow, THOSE animals become okay to eat, because I didn’t witness their suffering. Talk about turning a blind eye! Talk about living in a comma!
Well, thankfully, this is no more. I have never in my life felt more empowered around food choices than I do today. I have never felt better about my body than I do today. Most importantly, I have never felt better about the state of my Soul than I do today….because I know, with every fiber of my being, that the Godforce that I am is not on this planet to cause such suffering. And as a consequence, I live a longer, healthier life.
Absolute win-win!
Thank you, Deb, for the work that you do and the amazing food that you produce! Someday, our paths shall surely cross!
