Putting our innermost thoughts to the page is a metaphor for being both willing and able to have the truth of who we are be revealed for all to consider. Once we do so, what lives in us is no longer ‘private’ – our secret world has emerged for all to see. “Better to play our cards close to the chest”, we say. Better to calibrate and test for possible judgements and adapt our inner truth, expressed, accordingly. Sadly, in so doing, much of who we are is kept in the dark.
