Times have changed – and so have I.
Although words have long flowed easily for me, in this moment of seeking to share a ’shift’ with all of you, I find myself bereft of any ease in its expression. Not because I don’t know what I know about myself – I simply do not yet have any words to make sense of it. Surely, an indication that what I am experiencing is new to me. Were it not… were it simply another version of who/what I have already been/lived… the words would come easily. And so it goes….
The last two+ years have changed me; have peeled away the remnants of any ‘hope’ I may have harboured – for the sake of my children and grandchildren – for a return of what I long held as ’normal’. Clearly, ’normal’ has left the building. Now, we are faced with the spectre of continuing to look outside of ourselves to government/authority figures (who have proven themselves – over and over again – to be unworthy of trust) OR looking deeply into ourSelves… despite the constant pull of the chaos outside ourselves to distract from just such a journey.
Changes are coming for me and for this blog. Soon, I will be taking a turn in the road. Should you choose to come to this blog, it will ‘look’ and ‘feel’ very different. There will be a line drawn in the sand that will be impossible to miss. (A reminder: should you choose to remove yourself as a subscriber, you remain in control of that activity and can simply ‘unsubscribe’ at your leisure. If you choose to remain a subscriber, there is nothing for you to do.)
Future blogs will not offer any guest posts. If there are voices that you have enjoyed hearing, I encourage you to subscribe directly to their personal blogs so that you do not miss a moment of the gifts they bring to our collective evolution.
You will be able to continue to access the full archive from the Emerging Futures blog, including all of the ‘Reclaiming Your Self: Women Unedited and Engaged’ radio show episodes; sound bytes; and a long and rich repository of writing that covers close to 20 years. The material remains as relevant today as it was the day it was written thanks to having focused on context and process rather than content. The world is finally catching up.
Should you choose to continue as a subscriber/reader, my commitment to you is as follows: you may not always like what I have to say and I am not one to sweep things under the rug. We are on the edge of a massive, collective shift in capacity to create our lives or have them defined for us. For the latter to be so, we need but continue to look outside ourselves and seek someone to follow. For the former, we need to stop… take a long, slow, deep breath… open eyes wide… and know that no ‘other’ is going to fix it… change it… make it better. Your life (and the legacy of that life for your children and future generations) is in your own hands. Only when you claim that – without caveat and free of a ’notwithstanding’ clause – can the rest begin.
Perhaps, we shall meet again on a different path.
