It has been said that we are not human beings having a spiritual experience – we are spiritual beings having a human experience. It may well be that the Great Game of our existence is to find our way back and reclaim the very spark of our creation.
Perhaps, in this, there is no greater evidence of the power of choice, to determine the context from which we live in our very dense, physical world. Personally? I choose to live my life as a Spiritual Being having a human experience. Every day, my first moment of awakening presents the enquiry: How does the Spiritual Being that I AM, choose to express in this realm, today? In that moment, I am reminded that I have choice of the direction which will shape my life.
I do not wait for any other, outside of me, to give me permission. My life is not a democracy – and the only final and essential voice is my own.
As a Spiritual Being expressing through tissue in a world of matter, the one thing we all have is a physical body as the conduit through which Spirit can move; from which the larger intention of my purpose can communicate itself into the moment-to-moment expression of my ‘reality’. No human can exist in this time/place without one. Consider that the body is the membrane that sits between two worlds; that allows us to navigate through our essence as Spirit and into our nature as human. The exquisite device of the Quantum Biological Body is the mechanism that translates signals/information/intelligence from one realm to/from the other. It is a dance of signals that never ends – and one that makes Life the Great Adventure that it is, as we (as tissue) make our way back to reclamation of the Source Being that we are.
Our direct link to the guiding presence of that Spiritual Being from which each of us emerges, is through the body – through the process of going in and down rather than that of going out and up. Forces outside of us would have us believe in our innate imperfection, unable to trust our own intuitive intelligence and pressed to seek essential – and Life-giving cues – away from and outside of ourselves. We are intentionally and relentlessly trained into a profound distrust of that which is innate and intuitive to US/ME and to seek out and rely on cues that come from outside of us (i.e. external authority of any kind) to which we become both attuned and addicted.
As a Spiritual Being expressing through tissue into a world of matter, I have discovered that my entire life is a metaphor that reflects back to me the degree to which I am receiving, allowing and welcoming the messages from Spirit, to come alive in full flow through my body, as an accurate and reliable guide through the physical process of living in matter. As I become more and more adept at trusting this inner cue.. this impulse… my life becomes easier. Although often considered unconventional (read: unpredictable and socially unacceptable), the recognition and embrace of such inner cues allow me-in-tissue to remain healthy and well; and to retain a sense of inner peace. The ‘outside’ of me (including climate) will do as it will. I know from where my choices will come.
With the body as a living, intelligent, organic biological device, we have free will. The body that is the vehicle through which Spirit/Self communicates into matter, has its own intelligence and can therefore choose. For many long generations, we have been inculcated into the cult of mindlessness… into the imposed process of denying our inner cues that we might capitulate to the pressures of outer/external authorities, directing how we live in our culture of collective will. As great as the pressure might be to conform, we have what it takes to comply and follow those external directives… or to rediscover the way to listen, embrace and live from those inner whisperings. For that, we need to rediscover how to trust the device of our own body; how to hear and listen for the inner Signals from Self; and how to invite and allow the natural intelligence of the Spiritual Being that we are, to lead.
If we are ever to know the freedom that is our birthright… the freedom to reconnect and reclaim the direct link to Spirit… we must first reclaim the deep intimacy of our undeniable, unshakeable, unquestionable connection to the body. Like we had to learn how to block and deny that inner truth, we now have to learn how to free it within the body.. and daringly, engage.
Happiness is living a life I have no desire to escape.
