As always, this monthly exploration of who we can become in the face of chaos is not for those who dabble. The recent ’Navigating Chaos’ exploration was devoted to the many layers of mind control. In the turbulent times of a world in upheaval, being able to stand in a different place and become more – not less – discerning; and to intentionally seek exploration rather than compliance, offer us a higher-order platform from which to observe, consider and choose intentionally for our own wellbeing.
During the exploration, the dominant question became: what makes us – human beings – so vulnerable to mind control? What has shaped us… compelled us… to be so precisely attuned to the ‘reality’ of others and hence, so profoundly fragile in the face of such formidable pressures to hold to a structure of reality that nurtures and sources us, deeply?
In the opening remarks, I shared a framework from which to consider the confusion that seeks to engulf us through the perceptual filters of how we have been intentionally shaped to capitulate to any and all that present as ‘authority’; to recognize and submit to parental surrogates who profess to have our best interests at heart and the desire to ‘keep us safe’. In return, all we need do is capitulate and comply… and just do what we’re told. Without question, without hesitation, without argument – in other words, no fuss.
I’ve included (below) a brief audio clip from the opening remarks that set the stage for the deeper dive that followed. Some presuppositions that serve as a fundamental reality for us, are:
* We are trained for compliance. Deeply encoded in the body is a recognition of the danger that lurks if/when we choose to NOT comply.
* When exploring the constructs of mind control, it is imperative that we notice both : the effort to shape the structure of our thinking AND how we subsequently perceive ourselves, relative to that effort. Am I a powerful or a powerless Being? My determination will shape my outcome.
* The recognition that once we know what is unfolding, we have the power to choose. Yes, this can be a stressful, frightening moment.. and ALL choices have consequences, including the one to do nothing.
* The reclamation of our birthright to attend to and trust our own inner cues; to embrace and include the internal references that represent a level of ‘knowing’ that lives outside the domain of logic and analysis.
During the deep dive into mind control and its many elements, we chose to focus not on the effort of an external force to penetrate ‘mind’ but on the internal truth of our Being that we are all, always, Creators of our functional reality. The point of power is in deciding: what will we choose to allow ourselves to become?
