The Bigger Picture

October 23, 2021 by Louise LeBrun 1 Comment

It doesn’t matter what conclusion you come to – what matters is how you come to it.

In a world of technology, sound bytes and break-neck speed in all areas of our lives, we are no longer known for our deep thinking and ability to tolerate the unknown to remain so, for long.  We have lost our appetite for letting discomfort stew and in its resulting juices, reveal to us the richer flavours of its secrets, unlocked.  The frantic press for conclusions and answers – and the great relief from the impending chaos that the  uncertainty presents – seems far more important than mining the line of enquiry provoked by any presenting challenge.

We never think it’s going to happen to us; happen on our watch.  We think such devastation only comes to others – other places, other times, other people.  I’m sure those lost once believed that to be true for them.  Funny how that works…

Perhaps we would do well to mindfully choose to slow the process down and notice all that we are not paying attention to.

Below is the link to another provocative and mind-stretching exploration from Stela Murrizi.  So far, I’ve read it three times… and eagerly await Part 2!

If climate collapse was the legacy of baby boomers, is global authoritarianism ours?
