It’s not always easy… or fun

November 17, 2018 by Louise LeBrun Leave a Comment

In my decades of working with others, I have witnessed the many come and go.  Arriving enthusiastically, seeking resolution and hoping to find a formula – and departing quickly and in great disappointment at the realization that ‘not here’ is the outcome of their search; moving on in that search, to the next stop along the path of trusting that what they seek would be found outside of themselves.

At the same time, a few would linger.  Those few who intuitively knew that they were the key to their own salvation.  What they needed was a way to find themselves.

Without new thoughts we cannot make new choices.  And without those new choices, we cannot shape a new reality. Not rocket science, really – and yet, we struggle to simply embrace that and get on with it!  But getting on with it takes time and effort; it takes tenacity and courage and vision; and it requires coming face-to-face with ourselves and trusting that in doing so, we will become whole.  It also demands that we stop… take a breath… and own it all.  We created what we have – and only we can create something else.

As I was letting go of more and more of my past, deleting long-forgotten files was part of that.  In that process, I came across a 10-day journey of discovery that I engaged in with a small group (6) of courageous women.  ‘Beyond the fringe’ does not begin to express what it was about.  The shared exploration made it possible for each of us to trust that our little piece of the puzzle mattered – even when we neither fully understood nor (perhaps) valued what had emerged.  Nonetheless, we stayed with it…. we persisted… and our ability to see the greater whole emerged from that courage to continue.

In the next 10 days, I will share my end of those explorations, in this space.  Be warned:  they are long and will demand your commitment to the read.  You may have to read the same sentence a few times to make sense of it.  And in truth, for some of it, you may find that only in returning two  years later will you be able  to see the horizon that presents.

Should you choose to take the deep dive, I encourage you to keep a journal at hand (digital or otherwise) to track your own discoveries and insights into yourSelf.  Should you choose to share those with others, you can do so in the Comments section below; or select those with whom you desire deeper meaning in your life.  Your reality is yours to shape as you see fit.

And so, we begin…..
