The words ‘leader’ or ‘leadership’ are rife with cultural rules and expectations – many of them holding little or no interest for the vast majority of women who ponder the possibilities. Before women become willing to lead, it may be required to redefine leadership in ways that become more meaningful. It may well be that in order for many women to embrace the leader that she already is, redefining leadership will need to precede reclaiming leadership.
