Every time I spend a dollar, I remind myself that doing so is a ‘yes’ vote to the manufacturers of whatever it is that I’m paying for. By buying it… by bringing it into my life… I’m saying that whatever they’re doing to make this available to me: I’m ok with that.
Waiting for politicians and governments to make a difference in these increasingly extreme times will never have the leverage – and the profound effect – that one person can have (multiplied by every other ‘one person’ who makes a deeply intimate and personal choice) by voting with their wallet. Imagine a world where 10,000,000 people decide to not buy factory-farmed products of any kind. It would be a matter of only days before that message was received loud and clear.
Climate change is a profoundly intimate and personal thing – and only profoundly intimate and personal choices will make a difference.
