… we must be willing to face into and lay claim to all that has told us that we can’t. Without that, we seek to spread the seeds of our potential on concrete… without breaking up the barrier and making way for the ability to penetrate to the nutrient-rich soil below. And in the face of bearing witness to that potential’s inevitable and slow dying, we come to the only conclusion we’ve been conditioned to accept: it must be us. There must be something wrong with the seeds of who we are and what they represent.
There is nothing wrong with us. There are only secrets and lies that pull us into a world of whispers and self-denigration.
For far too many of us, in our homes growing up, we would have known shame, humiliation, rage, outrage… and been helpless to create any change for ourselves in the face of our powerlessness to do so. Antagonizing our parents/captors would have been more dangerous on so many levels so we would have learned to feign obedience, cooperation, gratitude, etc. To appease, we would also have learned to behave as if we were grateful for our abuse. That is an energetic charge that scars not only the body but the will to create.
We are no longer powerless to plant the seeds of our own potential and ensure their capacity to take root… reaching deep into the nutrient-rich soil of our imagination, commitment and determination… and trust in our ability to create what we hold as meaningful and joyous!
Only we can tend to the garden of our Life well-lived.
