What does it take for a collective to wake up? Is it even possible for a collective to wake up?
A bunch of people shuffling in the same direction does not an intelligent organism make. If the individuals are not present, mindful and awake, putting a large number of them together does not increase intelligence but in truth, decreases it. The fine art of thinking for yourself is surrendered to the ‘greater good’ of the bunch. And usually, someone else is making that choice on behalf of the bunch, and a directive is simply followed.
It takes individuals who are awake and no longer willing to pretend to be otherwise. No longer willing to be anything less than the fullness of who and what they are, no matter where they may find themselves. No need to preach or convert, etc… and the absolute essential requirement is to be your authentic Self and tell your truth, out loud and in the presence of others. That simple act takes enormous courage, strength and absolute, unshakeable commitment to Self. Not easy in a comatose collective.
We live in a world that is designed to ensure that your authentic truth never sees the light of day. The weapons against such expressions are many and deeply rooted in our intergenerational layers of culture; and they are the mindlessly-accepted tools of the process of parenting. When your truth does not map to that of the ’norm’ of the comatose collective, the response is swift and deadly. Shame. Humiliation. Shunning. Mocking. Ridicule. Separation. Isolation. And those are the purportedly easy ones. It gets worse: corporeal punishment; hitting children; children watching other children being physically assaulted. Degradation comes in a myriad of ways… all of them designed to swiftly and increasingly ensure that unique and authentic thought is relegated to darkest recesses of our Being, with one caveat: we can have original thoughts about ‘stuff’… about things outside of ourselves – we just can’t have them about ourselves; about who and what we are. (That territory is reserved for those who know better than we do what is good for us…. like parents, bosses, experts, etc.) At some time – and usually early in the game of a child becoming an adult – we have intentionally forgotten that we ever had an original thought. I have come to understand over these many years: the deeper and more aggressive the fear of awakening, the more brutal and sustained the early weaponry had to be to leave one so debilitated.
A collective coma demands a deep collective commitment to that coma. It demands that each individual within that collective chooses sleep… chooses absence of unique thought and returns to the accepted thought of the comatose collective. Any individual or collective thought construct is highly contagious… like a virus… and is capable of penetrating structures of ‘reality’ to begin to undermine and take apart an existing structure to allow it to be replaced by another. It is not by accident that we are facing a global pandemic. We are in desperate, desperate need of a new thought virus to penetrate coma. Sadly, the one that is now sweeping the globe is being used to ensure coma is undisturbed.
All thought is contagious. Whatever thoughts we – as an individual – think will ensure our world moves in that direction. Whatever thoughts we choose to express into a larger collective will either ensure a continuing coma or begin to penetrate that coma. We get to choose what thoughts we embrace that become the evidence of the contagion we are. The most powerful line of enquiry has always been and remains: “What is the thought virus that I am and what am I spreading?” Each of us is innately powerful and able to influence worlds. It is what makes us so dangerous to the status quo. Collective coma is the only way to ensure that magic cannot breathe.
It always comes back to the individual. To what degree am I both willing (safe) and able (informed) to be fully and authentically my unique Self, an expression of my own living truth, in the presence of a comatose collective? To what degree have I become impervious to the weapons of choice of a comatose collective: shame, ridicule, humiliation, separation, isolation, etc? To what degree am I both willing and able to choose the contagion that I am/will be in the presence of others? In my reality, these are the fundamental questions that each, single individual must ask of him/herSelf. After 30+ years of engaging this line of enquiry for myself and with others, I have found no other way. Sadly, we remain our own greatest resource or the enforcer of our powerlessness. When I am willing to pretend to be asleep in order to avoid the wrath of a disturbed comatose collective, I have just become a resource in support of the problem.
There are no half measures. I either am or am not a living godforce expressing through tissue into a world of matter. I either am or am not awake. I either am or am not a thought virus of mindful and intentional contagion.
In our current reality, there is no longer any room for standing idly by on the sidelines, waiting for someone else to get it done. We are now, each one of us, a living cell in the body of a comatose collective or a living cell in the body of an awakened collective. The choice is ours to make.
