Consider how many times in your life you have stopped yourself from saying out loud what moves inside you; how many times you have said ‘yes’ to something when you wanted to say ‘no’; how frequently you have pulled back from the edge of your own thinking to, yet again, comply with the thoughts of those around you.
Stop for a moment and allow yourself to reconsider all those times when your own truth was sacrificed to a more acceptable or familiar one; when the agitation in your body became so overwhelming that you sought out a way to numb yourself to your circumstances, environment or relationships… hoping that it would pass and tomorrow would be a better day.
As those moments came and went, you likely concluded… as you curled in on and pressed down that inner knowing… that you were ‘keeping the peace’ or ‘protecting someone else from their own vulnerabilities’ or worse, making a difference by staying the same! It is not likely that in the moment of that life, unfolding, you would ever consider that you had – one more time – made the choice to abort your own potential.
When we become both willing and able to recognize the throat as a gateway for choices and voices, we begin to catch ourselves in the act of either giving birth to or holding back and stifling our potential.. unable to deny the simple truth that we are indeed, the gatekeeper of the quality of our own lives.
The following closing thoughts can be found at the end of:
Episode 49 of ‘Reclaiming Your Self: Women Unedited and Engaged!’ on the topic of ‘Voices and Choices: Rebirth for Women’.
Here are a few things to keep in mind as you move into the coming week:
- Recognizing the throat as the rebirth canal for women can change your life! That simple realization will make it possible for you to begin to bring into conscious awareness all those times that the sound of your own voice – or its absence – affirms the status quo or opens a door to a new way of being ‘you”. So habituated have we become to our own strategies for staying safe in our world, we often overlook the most simple – and powerful! – ways of transforming our lives: that of telling the truth of our own experience.
- Pay attention to the degree to which the voice inside you gets to be heard by those around you. We have become adept at ensuring long conversations with ourselves, often intended to talk us into or out of something and yet, that same voice is rarely permitted to be heard by the people who share our lives. Begin to explore ways for that inner voice to find legitimate outward expression. Consider the process of journaling, taking the time to capture what that voice says and honouring it by giving it expression. Better still, look around and consider one person with whom you feel safe that would make it possible for you to share that inner voice, out loud.
- Begin to notice all those times and places in your life when you choose not to choose; when you simply allow things to slide, with the promise to yourself that the next time, you’ll do it differently. Rather than looking back and taking inventory of those times, stand in the now.. in this moment and in this place… and notice: what am I avoiding? What am I choosing to ignore or pretend is unimportant relative to my relationships, my work and my life? The point of power is in the present and it is in reclaiming that point of the power.. right here, right now!… that lives can change.
As always, breathing is good! Remember to soften your belly, drop your shoulders and allow the wave of awakening in your own body to move easily and effortlessly. Nothing to figure out… nothing to understand. Just you, the genius of your own body as a Quantum Biological Device and that wave of energy and information are all that is required for you to claim your throat as your own rebirth canal!
