The easiest thing in the world to do, these days, is find something miserable to contemplate; something that will engender fear and a sense of hopelessness and despair. Thanks – I’ll pass!
In addition to being retired, I now have the great benefit of having even fewer obligations as all around me closes up and compresses the Space within which any signs of life are easily available. The Great Reliever (the internet) opens gateways to interconnectivity – sometimes in ways that expand possibility and sometimes in ways that take it away. It really is always a choice and that is one thing that remains an absolute truth, no matter what is going on around us.
I choose to focus on the moment I’m in, noticing the opportunities for my future to emerge. Staying present; staying mindful that I am always choosing; staying deeply connected to what will allow me to embrace Life in all ways available to me.
There is always going to be misery. In a very recent and trying experience, I was mindful of the degree of pain that was part of the experience. I had to remind myself that I am the creator of my reality… the shiny stuff, and the dark and murky stuff… and it is all part of my own evolution. That is, if I choose to take ownership of it.
I’ve been going through sound files ( so many sound files!) that have not ever been made public. The interesting and useful thing about a WEL-Systems® approach to living is that it has a very long shelf life, given that it is all driven by process and context. This particular clip (approx 10 minutes) on creating a meaningful life was likely recorded close to 10 years ago… and it still helps me remember who I can choose to become. Maybe it will be useful for you, too.
